San Luis Bay Surfrider and Ocean Outfall Group of California visit San Simeon
A clean-water contingent of activists attended the San Simeon Community Sanitation District Board meeting, March 14th 2007 to support them as they work to come into compliance with State Water Resource Control Board's order to go to Full Tertiary treatment of all sewage discharged. Their deadline for compliance is September 25th, 30 months after the order was given. The Board welcomed us, and our comments were polite and productive. Facility Manager Dan Daniels was knowledgeable and friendly. His clean water roots date back to Oregon, where he was Public Works Director for 20 years at a time when Oregon led the nation in implementing 'Public Law 92500', now known as the Clean Water Act.
