Woosh! "Hey, what the %$#! was that?"
"Oh, just the world going to #@!% in a handbasket, that's all".

No problem, I have a plan- we save it!

First, vote for Dennis Kucinich, coming soon to a primary near you. Then register with the Green Party and make a noise the Democrats can't ignore. Enough politics; speaking of making noise, I would like to invite you to my record-release party on the internet.

I just finished recording a cool new 'EP' (15 minute extended play) CD, with three really fun hip-hop tunes. The record is called 'PS 158', after my old school in Brooklyn New York- a 100-year-old, 5 story brick elementary school where kids get shot -and shot at- a lot. Happened to me in 2nd grade. Never forgot it, wrote a song about it.

Here's how to check out the record:

*Sign on to http://myspace. com/joeyracano at 7:30PM on Saturday Night (California time), December 22nd.

*A new song from the new CD will be uploaded every night at 7:30PM

*Saturday the 22nd, it will be 'Grease Fire', a searing commentary on the state of war.

*On Sunday the 23rd, it will be 'G-Brother', a really fun party tune all about being an Italian from Brooklyn and...

*Then on Christmas eve, Monday, the 24th, I'll upload the title track, 'PS 158'.

All songs, words, music, guitars & Vocals by me, Joey Racano, recorded and mixed in Morro Bay, California Nov-Dec, 2007.

Engineered ably by Frank Ring jr.

Downloads are free on the night each song is released, 7:30-Midnight. Until then, you can go to the site and listen to some of my other music, and check out the cool art & videos too!

*Dedicated to Daesean Hill, a PS 158 3rd grader killed by a stray bullet in a drug-related shootout that received much media attention when the tragedy occurred in November 2003.
I had a gun in my face, probably in the exact spot, in 1962.

41 years later, and nothing changed.

Anyone who has been US President since that time has failed miserably.

love, your pal, joey

Green Party Candidate for President Visits San Luis Obispo
during CA Campaign Tour

Dr. Jared Ball, one of the seven 2008 Green Party Presidential candidates on the CA Green party primary ballot, will stop in San Luis Obispo while touring CA, on Monday, December 17th, 2007.

Dr. Ball is a recognized progressive Scholar, Educator, Journalist, Pacifica Radio talk show host, and DC activist. Taking his cues from the style of hip-hop artists such as Public Enemy and KRS One, who years ago motivated entire communities of urban youth towards political activism, professor Jared Ball remains an outspoken critic of what’s wrong with America, and an unrelenting optimist regarding the Hip-hop Generations power to change society for the better.

“We are spending untold billions in an unsupported war in Iraq, yet our urban cities remain war zones with scarce opportunities hidden among the minefields of drugs, failing schools and poverty,” said Dr. Ball, professor of communications at Morgan State University. “Our politicians say a lot about themselves when they lie to spend billions on needless wars and refuse to spend on providing universal health care for all or ensuring that young people from Oakland or Los Angeles have access to decent schools, jobs and training,” added Ball.

During his December tour of California, Ball hopes to bring attention for such issues as the “Green Economy,” and many of the progressive California initiatives for improving the environment as potential national models for creating economic opportunity, particularly for African American and Latino youth.

During Jared Ball’s visit, the SLO Green Party will host a Dessert & Music informational event from 7-9PM at the SLO Senior Center, 1445 Santa Rosa St. Performance by nationally renowned progressive Hip-Hop artist/educator/ activist Head-Roc (http://www.head- roc.com) will accompany Dr. Ball’s presentation.

For info, call 441-5897.

From www.insideschools. org:

notes: In the area around PS 158, you can see the old East New York -- a garbage-strewn lot next to the school's playground -- and the new East New York -- a great deal of housing development, especially along Pitkin Avenue . Despite the fresh additions, however, problems persist in the neighborhood. At the entrance to the school, a photo and memorial recall Daesean Hill, the PS 158 3rd grader killed by a stray bullet in a drug-related shootout that received much media attention when the tragedy occurred in November 2003. Many students at the school face considerable difficulties. Quite a few live in shelters, while a large number are being raised either by grandparents or very young parents.
